
Getting started with Shipping Manager – Workshop
The Getting Started Workshop for Shipping Manager helps you outline your shipping goals and understand how Shipping Manager enhances your shipping process inside Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. We guide you through your first steps, enabling you to continue independently.
Workshop Deliverables
After this workshop you will have
- A clear understanding of how to create and manage waybills directly from Sales Orders, Warehouse Shipments, and Transfer Orders.
- Insight into how Shipping Manager connects to shipping brokers or freight forwarders, allowing you to always choose, or automatically receive the best priced shipping option.
- Knowledge of how to register packages, including boxes, pallets, or containers, and structure shipments using nested waybills.
- An overview of how the app calculates weight, dimensions, volume and tariffs on orders and shipments.
- Understanding of how Shipping Manager improves warehouse shipment creation, allowing bundled or rule‑based shipment handling.
- A demonstration of label generation, pickup assignment and tracking management — all directly in Business Central.
What we cover during the workshop
Waybill Creation and Shipping Flow: You will learn to create waybills from Sales Orders,
Warehouse Shipments, Transfer Orders. Additionally you will learn how to add multiple packages, set package types, define dimensions and weights, and structure shipments as needed.
Connecting to Shipping Brokers and Forwarders: We show you how you can request offers from brokers (e.g. Consignor, Webshipper, Shipmondo), integrate directly with your preferred freight forwarder, and automatically receive a label and track‑and‑trace number.
Weight, Volume, and Tariff Calculations: You learn how Shipping Manager enriches Business Central with automatic calculation of quantity, weight, and measures on sales and shipment documents and tariff specifications added automatically to relevant documents.
Improved Warehouse Shipment Creation: We explore how Shipping Manager allows smarter bundling and rule‑based creation of warehouse shipments, reducing manual decisions and saving warehouse staff significant time.
Labels, Pickups & Tracking: Finally, you’ll see how to print shipping labels, manage pickup numbers and group shipments.
Important Note
Due to the 3‑hour format, this workshop focuses on examples, guided exercises, and a proof‑of‑concept scenario. It does not include complete connector setup, automation flows, or full operational implementation.

Pre-requisites
The Shipping Manager app have to be installed and activated. We recommend a Sandbox environment for exercises. You have to have Connection API details for required Shipping Integrations and relevant Azure Entra App Registration details.
Participants should understand basic sales, warehouse, or shipping flows in Business Central.
