Getting started with Master Data – Workshop
The Getting Started Workshop for Master Data helps you outline your master data enrichment goals and build your first information structures.
We guide you through the process, enabling you to continue independently, so you are confident, structured, and aligned around how your organization wants to work with product- and master data.
Establishing a solid and well‑organized master data foundation is crucial. When done right, you’ll get better product information management, more efficient processes, fewer errors, and a stronger customer experience across channels.
In this workshop we help you understand which information attributes matter for your business, how to structure them, and how they flow smoothly through Business Central using Master Data Information.

What we cover during the workshop
Understand the roles of Information Codes: Learn how Information Codes act as configurable metadata fields that enrich Items, Vendors, Customers, BOMs, Serial/Lot Numbers and more.
Create your Master Data attributes: We walk through how to create structured attributes such as measurements, colors, web shop information, quantities, rich text and more — all without custom development.
Master Data on Documents: Get an overview of how your newly created attributes flow into Sales Orders, Purchase Orders and other documents automatically. This ensures that important product information is visible where it matters.
Use Rich Media and Extended Text: See how to add images, user guides, files, HTML descriptions and extended text to master data — and how this helps support PIM and customer‑facing processes.
Bulk Updating & Excel Integration: Learn time‑saving methods to bulk update master data from spreadsheets or supplier lists and push changes back into Business Central.
Data Views & Information Matrix: Discover how to create custom views across multiple tables and records to support workflows, analysis and validation.
Important Note
Due to the limited time, this workshop will not include full implementation of all your master data attributes, document flows or hierarchies. It focuses on concepts, examples, and a practical proof‑of‑concept.
